It's been a while since our last update but we've been very busy with our building work! We now have our outer building and last week, the doors were installed and it really is beginning to look like a boathouse. There is a still a lot of work to do installing the racking, mezzanine floor, gym and changing facilities but the finish line is definitely looking a little closer.
We still need to raise extra funds to finish our building work so please have a look at our sponsorship packages and see what we can do to help your business.
We also have a fundraising page here if you have any spare change behind your sofa!
All Systems Go!
January 29, 2018
It may seem like along time ago to some, since our boathouse demolished as we made way for a new facility. With a lot of hard project work and fundraising taking place in the mean time, we are delighted that work has now begun on the new construction. We look forward to bringing you more updates in the coming weeks. For now though, we're really please to let you know that work has begun!
Where have all the boats gone?
August 22, 2017
Members will no doubt have noticed over the past few weeks that our fleet of boats in the boathouse is rather small. Well, we've been busy clearing everything out to prepare for phase one of our project (subject to funding approval)
Don't worry, all of our boats are safe and sound and accessible for members to train and race as per usual. It's going to be a challenging few months ahead logistically for everyone but it will be worth it to have a brand new facility to safely house our boats.
Clearing out over 100 years of history from the depths of the boathouse has been hard work but also good fun. We've found all sorts of relics up in the loft including 2k scores from when Matt Langridge was a J15, and what looks like a device for morse code (possibly the communication equipment from early regatta days?)
We're know that all our members will be looking forward to getting back to normality as soon as possible but in the mean time, we can't wait for the next phase of our development project!
Planning permission granted!
August 08, 2017
We are delighted to announce that planning permission has been granted to begin our new boathouse build! It has been a long haul to get to this point but thanks to the support of our neighbours and in particular Sir John Deane's College, we are now able to make firm plans to begin to empty the boathouse and get the contractors lined up for the first phase of demolishing our current facility.
Watch this space for more news. We can't wait!
